I have been an advisor and worked with students from all walks of life for the past 12 years and I never get tired of seeing and interacting with undergraduates. If you are a current Sociology or Anthropology major, I expect to see you a minimum of once a semester. If you are a prospective major in our department, I will be happy to meet with you to discuss the possibility of joining our department as a major.
As your advisor, I adhere to the academic advising mission statement developed by the Academic Advising Advisory Council as outlined below. As a student in our department, I will expect you uphold your responsibilities and meet with me on a regular basis and come prepared to discuss your academic progress. I will try to address any questions or concerns you may have.
Sincerely,
Teri Farr
Assistant to the Chair for Undergraduate Studies and Academic Advisor
Academic advising at Illinois State University is an integral part of the educational process. Working in partnership with advisors, students learn about academic policies, procedures, and university resources and develop strategies to pursue their individual educational goals.
The application process for both Sociology and Anthropology majors requires an application and a writing assessment. As explained in the application, you contact the department office at 438-8668 to schedule a writing assessment. Please bring your completed application with you at the time you take the writing assessment. Applications are reviewed on a regular basis and we will contact you by email to inform you of your application status.
